Chord Notations


The notations or encryption of chords are diverse and often contradictory, the signs used having different meanings according to the notations. We will propose here a summary table of the main notations commonly encountered in musical literature, for the different types of chords, making it possible to make the link with the notation proposed in the method and to define groups of equivalent notations.

The table below is based on the C chord, which can easily be transposed to other degrees by changing the letter defining the name of the chord, its quality remaining unchanged. The chords are classified by increasing density, and at equal density, we have first the major chords, then the minor chords, the suspended chords and finally the so-called altered chords.
