EDUCATIONAL PROJECT

MAO Class - Computer Assisted Music:

Class of professor Renato Velasco YEAR 2021 - 2022

Goals

- Ensure the progression of students in musical training by establishing the link with computer-assisted music.

- The discovery of many tools (software and applications) such as software: Cubase, Finale, EarMaster, Audacity, Music Score, and such applications: Symphony Pro 6, Notion, Musique Mesure, Melodia, Cubasis, Music Crab. IReal Pro ...

Also, students will use a tactile stylus to write scores on Ipad applications such as Notion and SymphonyPro6.

- Initiation to recording in studio conditions

Link with musical training (FM) and computer-assisted music (MAO):

In order to work the ear of the pupils, the EarMaster software is perfectly adapted to eliminate the difficulties of the pupils to find a melody or a rhythm. This training software is comprehensive with nearly 2,500 exercises for all levels on sight reading, ear training and rhythmic music theory.

The Content of the FM Music Today course has an important relation to the work on computer music.

Harmonic work (chords and scales)

Learn to read and analyze American costings (chord charts)

Rhythm section work (loops)

Collective practice on a variety of repertoire (blues, jazz, rock, pop, ...); initiation to improvisation

The interactions between the instrument, the song and the computer:

Here again, it is a question of approaching modern techniques motivating the pupil to create new sounds (ex: playing virtual "MIDI" instruments) by helping them to understand the arrangements of polyphonic music (written on software and played back in MIDI sounds).

Initiation to recording in studio conditions:

In this program divided into 3 years, we approach all the stages of working in the studio through very concrete practical exercises: it is a question of creating on virtual instruments, of recording, arranging, orchestrating and mixing his project until the burning to CD. The discovery of this new universe requires the use of specific equipment made available to us as well as various software and applications such as audio editors, or midi / audio sequencers.

3-year training program:

1st year

- Discovery of Garageband software for the creation of musical sequences with virtual instruments.

- Recording with Audacity software to make sound recordings of instruments and vocals.

- Entering scores on the Musescore software.

- Introduction to Finale software.

- Musical learning work of the Beginner EarMaster course

- Discovery of applications on Ipad, such as Notion and symphonyPro 6 for sheet music editing,

Work the rhythm with the Measure Musica application and with Melodia the ear work to recognize the intervals.

2nd year

- Learning Cubase software to work on audio takes and midi sound sequences.

- Learning of the Finale software to master the entry of scores and start the creation of arrangements for one or more instruments.

- Master the routing and wiring of home studio devices, know the functions of the mixer and preamplifier.

- Learning recording and mixing sound techniques.

- Musical learning in the middle cycle on EarMaster (General Workshops)

3rd year

- Consolidation of knowledge on Cubase and Finale software,

- Learn to make screenshot videos with the Cantasia video software to make a video capture on the Finale software in order to be able to send to other musicians, by YouTube or email. Indeed, it helps in learning music for a concert or other purposes.

- Make arrangements on Finale on a computer and be able to transfer to the Notion or Symphony Pro 6 application, on the iPad.

- Learn to transform pdf format into XML to be able to open on Finale and other software.

- Musical learning in the finalization of cycles on EarMaster (General and Jazz Workshops)
